Produce Memberships, including the Traditional Community Support Agriculture (CSA) Produce Membership and Open Market (OM) Produce Membership, are fulfilled and available to use immediately after successful processing of your payment. The length of your membership is as described in the item descriptions below. Customers who wish to purchase Produce Memberships are required to read, agree to, and abide by these terms and conditions at the time of purchase. Applications and payments are available both in-store and online.

Purchase options include:

  • In-store: Submit your completed application and pay at the checkout counter. With this option, you can choose to pay upfront, in installments, or monthly and choose your payment method (cash, card, or check). We accept SNAP/EBT for the Traditional CSA Membership (not available for Open Market Memberships due to government regulations).
  • Online: Produce Memberships are paid in full with a credit/debit card when purchased online. Customers are required to confirm that they have read and agreed to the terms and conditions listed in this document at checkout.
  • By mail: Customers can mail in the application form after picking it up from the Barn Market or downloading it from our website. With this option, you can choose to pay upfront, in installments, or monthly, and choose your payment method (card or check).

Traditional CSA Produce Membership

Traditional CSA memberships are available in Full, Half or Pick-Your-Weeks Shares. With this membership, your household can enjoy a weekly box of the season’s freshest produce. This option also allows you to choose some of the items in your box—meaning you’ll take home kale, beets, or eggplants only if you like them!

Distribution will be in the form of a weekly box of freshly harvested produce that is picked up at the farm on Tuesdays from 11 am to 6 pm. Boxes are to be returned each week for reuse. If for any reason certain vegetables are unavailable from our farm, some may be grown by fellow local farmers with similar responsible growing practices.

If for some reason you cannot pick up your CSA box on the scheduled day, please call the farm as soon as possible so our staff can coordinate a different pickup day with you. Because of produce freshness and availability, we cannot guarantee your CSA box will be available if 2 or more days pass from our scheduled pickup day.

The dates, costs, and available add-ons for each CSA Share option are outlined in the application form.

Open Market Produce Membership

Open Market (OM) is a produce buying membership program that allows a household all the vegetable produce they can eat for one fee. The OM Membership is our unique twist on traditional CSAs where you get ultimate freedom with your produce: shop as often as you want, shop any day our farm is open, choose only the produce you like most, and take home as much as your household can eat fresh. This membership offers Full Season and Peak Season options.

As an Open Market member, you are allowed to visit the Market any day of the week, visit as often as you want, and take as much fresh vegetable produce as your household will consume in a timely manner. You are trusted to choose produce wisely to minimize waste. Some produce may be grown by fellow local farmers with similar responsible growing practices.

This is an “honor system” and the annual fee is based on the number of people in the household, with children charged $5 per year of age from 8 to 20 years old (i.e. a 10 year old is $50). All members of your household need to be counted when calculating the fee. The fee may be paid in installments. We prorate for college kids home for the summer. If you have a unique living situation, please contact us to determine your fee.

OM Members will be provided with a badge and are required to show/scan their badge when entering the market. Badges for additional family members can be requested. Members are encouraged to bring their own reusable bags to shop and take produce home.

OM Memberships do not have a delivery option. OM Members must visit our Barn Market in-person at 4160 US-131, Petoskey, to select their desired produce included in their membership. It is the responsibility of the OM Member to utilize their membership according to their own schedules and fulfillment needs; “refunds” are not available for any weeks or time periods during the season in which OM Members forget, miss, are traveling, or are otherwise not able to utilize their membership.

If you have questions about any of the above options for the Traditional CSA or Open Market Produce Memberships, please contact our farm at market@coveyouscenicfarm.com or by calling 231-347-0011.
