Weigela (Weigelia) are dense, medium to tall shrubs than can grow wider than tall. The long, thin branches of mature plants may begin to arch towards the ground, creating an elegant appearance.Â
Weigela prefers average fertility, medium moisture, well drained soils in full sun. Some light shade can be tolerated, but the best flowering occurs in full sun. Pruning is not required but may be desired. Prune immediately after flowering. Pruning too late may result in the loss of new flower buds for next spring.
